Ansel Ansel's the Dismemberment of Kooyo Shaki Um
Ansel do it turned to this story of koyo shaoki which is a divine feminine being of sorts within an ancient machika origin story of the moon. She was trying to theorize a number of relationships to very real forms of physical pain chronic illness medical intervention and societal neglect and blame. This reading of koya shalke that she offers in her work seems to speak to something broader than this individual identification. What she's working toward is this interdependent understanding of bodily knowledge I think that could reframe a dichotomy between disability and and ability.
