With mindfulness, we're better engagig the supermarginal gyrus. And this increased engagement is directing attention differently. Instead of paying attention to the lits, you're just paying attention to your actual hand. So it's not so much the lights as the actual sensory experience. This is related to the decrease in stress and anxiety.
