The Parable of the Dragnet
Paired parables need to be read alongside each other, recognizing that they are both similar and different. The imagery of the drag net and the hook here is a negative one. It's one of actually overcoming or defeating people. Related y could be found in ezekiel, chapter 32, verse three. Here, nations and peoples of the gentiles are compared to fish in the sea. And the chaldeans are going through with their hooks and their drag nets and bringing people out.
