The Disappointment of Faith in the Church

There's a moralism that sort of drives a lot of this, and it's not just right belief. It's like right praxis as well. I have to express my agreement with the formula of Concord on the 30th of the law with enough joy to convince you that I actually believe it even though I say I publicly confess it. And that probably is linked to a certain amount of fear and despair. You just don't have to make a decision on everything.
