i don't think there's malevolence that's too strong but there's a willful ignorance on the part of these people. The difference between actual evidence and like evidence with mild high air quotes is gigantic i feel like you guys are sugarcoating this in almost surprising way so i'm calling an egotistical and ignorant. I think the templeton foundation is a wonderful source of funding for journalists and academics alike.  I do hope people like lay people feel a little bit more empowered to ask those sorts of questionslike what does this evidence actually look like.
