How to Dig for Remains in a Country

One tiny little stone flake can tell you a very great deal about the people who used that site. How do you even know where to start looking for any of these remains? So it depends on the period that you're talking about. For really, really old stuff, you may just look at the landscape and be like, huh, that's an interesting bump. That looks like these other bumps that we've excavated that show evidence from this particular period.
