M the japanese characters are otthered in a film that's set in their own country, and there's also this rather obvious reference to a stereotype about asian people ar eating dogs. I think one of the most fensive decisions and creative decision that was made was to translate the dogs barks to english, but not to extend that same courtesy to the japans speaking characters.
