CHAPTER

The History of Tullari Lake in California

Tullari Lake was a huge lake that I think may have been the second largest lake in the western United States. As we settled California and as we started to divert the rivers for agriculture Tullari Lake started to dry up because we took all the water. In the last 12 months really first of all we've had an incredibly wet year this year with more than 200 percent above normal snowpack. All the rivers in the southern part of the mountain range are flooding and there's nowhere for that water to go except back into the old Tullari lake bed.
