The idea that you can find an island of people who are living in some starkly awful way by our lights shouldn't convince you on its face. The fact that they have opinions on those topics is never read by experts as evidence of anything other than their ignorance. And so it's just the fact that we just throw out the rule book of what it would mean to just try to push the conversation further into persuasion.
