The Relationship Between Film Score and Storytelling
I'm like Tom Hagen in The Godfather. I'm a film composer with one client, Spike Lee. And so I only work for him. He'll call me to do a project, say the two seasons of she's got to have it on the sort of reducks version on Netflix. You just sort of tell me what it, tell me about the milieu, about the scene, where it takes place,. A bit of storyline. And then I'll just start writing cues based on that little bit of knowledge. So again, it's led me to a different, to write a different type of song.
