I Think It Gave Her Access to This Kind of Hidden Reality

Louise bourgeois is someone to think through questions of feminism and gender. I don't think there's anyone better than bourgeois to help you access those kinds of questions in my own research and writing and in the classroom absolutely. She taught me that ambivalence and aggression are every bit as valid a vocabulary for thinking and making art as a more perhaps cooler conceptualism. Her work says something utterly idiosyncratic and unique about how she learned to live and love and function in the world but somehow life was not easy for her.
