CHAPTER

The Dissociative State of Memory

When we think about under threat, our body will actually reduce blood flow to areas of the frontal lobe and cerebral cortex. And so what we experience is an inability to act from those higher order thinking systems. We're not able to have good cognitive function or memory because we're moving into that state when we don't really need to anymore. This also affects our amygdala too, because it kind of gets over way over active. It starts to hijack our experience processing everything more through a fear state.
