Is There a Connection Between the Id, the Rational, and the Impetitive?

The id is the appetite, right? The animal inside of us that just wants things. And then the super ego is where the thing that governs everything beneath. Most writers in the classical world seem to say that the rational part of the soul is the king. But maybe freud was more classical than you realisd perhaps.
