The White Socks and the Past Blast

Zodov Sharma: The Chicago white socks wore shorts for select games in the 1976 season. They won two of three games so that they played and yet this did not catch on and the white socks did not continue doing it. David Lewis who is an architectural historian and baseball researcher based in boston writes about their short lived fashion experiment. He says you might not think those little pads offered much protection but the numbers don't lie according to the archive box scores the socks stole eight bases without being caught in their three shorts clad games.
