When Paul writes that we're saved for the purposes of doing those, I'm probably miss speaking in terms of who actually wrote this. When you're effectually drawn to Christ, you see him in his role as prophet, priest, and king. You see him as the Lamb of God who was slain before the foundation of the world to save God's elect. That's how the fallen person thinks of Christ. Then we come to him freely. We choose him to follow him. And that is all that the only way that happens is by God's power. But relational religion just seems to sometimes downplay the work of God or overly mystifies it.
