In the pandemic, our amount of screen time increased by about five hours a week. Children spend upwards of two hours every day after school on their screens. The dream of civilization has been to change us from the outside in and make us better members of society. But what we've got here is an economic model in which our four richest individuals in the world build and make screens. These people in silicon valley have become our parents. They are the ones who are shaping our children now. So we're outsourcing our thinking. And they out sor some of our parenting.
