Are Americans Terrible Listeners?

Cultural variants across Asia and high-context cultures are the role of silence. Talking over someone will be a sign of rudeness in South America or Eastern Europe. Interruption is actually a sign of a tight relationship, not rudeness. Yet across all cultures, we tend to struggle most with distraction. Turning up and being ready to listen is the most common thing that gets in way of every human way of listening.
