The Role of Fact Checkers in Journalism
Your fifth choice is about fact checkers, the people employed by newspapers and magazines to ensure that what journalists include is correct. So obviously reliable reporting is extremely important, but isn't this role something that the journalist should be doing themselves? Well, I mean, absolutely. The level of attention and effort that goes into this is really something that the average reader is not aware of. On the inside as a writer who has been through this process, who has had their copy picked over by a fact checker and by multiple editors.
