Unpaid Labor - What Is It?

I don't like that power differential of I, the editor, I'm making money. But then I also feel like I have to make this piece work no matter what because I've asked you to do all this work and I've been paid you. The term unpaid labor kind of ignores these non-pucuniary benefits that are accruing to different people in this exchange which is learning in particular. If I want to contract for learning instead of wages, that could actually be good.
