Avalanche's Soft Leader Mechanism
When we came out with the initial avalanche protocol, it was leaderless and it's still that protocol is still there in every way. All of that code is still there. So in any slot, anyone can propose. But if you do run a protocol with that sort of modality, then you can get into situations where there's a lot of conflicts because two people are constantly talking at the same time. We added a soft leader mechanism to avalanche. It's different from classical protocols. There's no view change. There’s no leader election. The C chain was an EVM chain with a, you know, Ethereum Virtual Machine running on it that created a totally ordered linear chain
