The Relationship Between Byron and Child Harold

The difficulty is to know how much based and how much an active imagination. Harold lives in an ancestral home remarkably like Byron's own ancestral home. He is at the same time a mirror of his author and a way for his author to consider himself divorced from himself. It becomes very difficult to determine which character when is in acting or speaking what Byron might have spoken or is speaking something totally different.
