Genetic Engineering Plants to Give Clear Signals About What's Wrong With Them
Scientists genetically engineer plants to give clear signals about what's wrong with them. Plants already react natively to stress, but you can't see this on the biological level. They're going to start producing a new protein that signals optically from the leaves. And then we use sunlight, optical equipment, and algorithms to be able to see those signals as close as a tractor sensor in the field.
