I'm not sure how much tension there actually is on the lat in that exercise. Like it's not inherently, the ball isn't going to swing forward if you didn't have any last strength. I think almost always, it's very rare that the deadlift is going to take your lats anywhere close to failure or for your lats to be the limiting factor.
