When the pandemic began lockdowns in China and then in America stifled global trade box carriers would be calmed. One of the main drivers is that when everyone was locked down people had far reduced ability to spend on experiences, on travel, on eating out. And so consumer spending pivoted towards spending on goods to e-commerce. This is accompanied by a big home renovation boom which again is boosting demand for home improvement goods and furniture and so on. The main shipping lines and container shipping is dominated by a tiny number of companies will luffing all the way to the bank, plowing their profits into ever more vessels.
