The Difficulty of Attracting Creative Talent
Many brands lack the historical credibility and care for editorial craft or creative craft that creates prestige. A lot of top tier writers, designers, podcasters who never want to go work for a brand like Grantland would quit if it got acquired with their staffers into whatever. The best writer I ever hired had just the GED and 10 years of bartending experience. And my boss was smart. He's like, Jay just came from Google. He's going to put on this candidate. We have to start kind of like revamping our way of finding each other If we want more creative talent in this field.
