Chat GPT: A Shocking Surprise?

The elephant in the room, I think it's fair to say, is the recent release and discussions about chat GPT. And so one of the things I wanted to ask you is, did many people came as a shocking surprise? But I'm wondering from somebody who's been in the field, is this really a surprise or have we been making slow and steady progress for this over the last two decades? It was just the entirely predictable result of the research that you and others were doing. Oh my goodness. Yeah, so I mean, there are no doubt that you can sort of paint out a history of the progress of research and that there were different steps along the way.
