Interviewing a Reporter

When you're interviewing reporters do you find them performing a meta analysis of your questions in real time like what's his angle here. I take it really seriously and I tried I go to extreme lengths to make sure that I'm being fair and providing context but it's a dangerous game to talk to a reporter people like to do it because it's fun. It takes a lot to get an on the record quote or to get somebody to say something or say how they really feel. A lot of these pieces also require tons and tons of background and lots of people and you've got to be careful and you'vegot to be discreet as well.
