The Last Time Jankai Shek Was in China
Jankai Shek wanted to make southwest in province of Yunnan, a best-gen from which to resist the advancing communists. He wanted to declare independence with American backing, but the Americans didn't go along with it. The next month Mao and the CCP had given a tremendous boost on January 5, 1950,. President Truman issued a press statement to the effect that the United States would not intervene.
