The Humane Spectrum of Mental Illness in Ancient Times

Some of the concepts that we have in modern times extend all the way back to ancient times. The treatment themes can be categorized along some sort of humane spectrum versus ostracization. And I think it's important for us to remind ourselves in a predominantly Western culture here, we tend to think about the Greek or Roman origins. We should think more about these other cultures and what they bring because often more humane views than we had in the West.
