Vitiligo can occur enough to 2% of the population. It happens when your T cells go bully your melanocytes and then areas of skin wind up with less pigmentation. There isn't a cure for this, but there's laser therapy which can help some folks as can phototherapy with that shorter, but more intense form of light, the UVB rays.
