The Debt Ceiling: A Tense Negotiation
Several Republican senators say they will not stop the clock if their amendments get a floor vote. If all goes to plan, this won't be an issue again until January 2025 after the next presidential election. Both parties are actually breathing a sigh of relief that they don't have to do this again during an election year because people would be feeling even more incentivized at a political purpose is to get what they want.
