The City of God by Augustine

The city of God is Augustine's 663-page treatise on the Old Testament. In Book 11, he explores the subject of evil in the world and how it came to be. He also discusses angels' division into those who chose to serve God and those who fell from grace. The book concludes with his views on heaven and hell. Quotations come from the Henry Bettenson translation published by Penguin Books in 2003.
