International Investment Law and the Epistemic Community

The concept of 'epistemic community' has been seen as a response to another well-known concept, and that's the concept of the invisible college of international lawyers. In some ways it hints at the possibility already of fragmentation of this unified international legal space. Many international lawyers are very much still a product of their own particular culture and legal system. They take on certain value judgments as a result of their origin. And they carry with them these presumptions that they acquired as part of their training when they go about the business of international law.
