What Is the Difference Between Rifles and Muskets?

Some light infantry units were equipped with special, more accurate weapons. But there was nothing revolutionary about any of these designs. They were more variations on older models than genuinely new weapons. None of the combatants had any real technological edge in their standard issue armaments.
