The Post Classical Period
Post classical teachers and sages continued to emphasize internal spirituality, metaphysics and the search for enlightenment. And this was also a period of flourishing in particular of a school of philosophy called vidanta which had existed for hundreds of years previously. This spurred on then furtherd the efflorescence of ashrams as a new kind of centre of spiritual teaching and learning. Also saw early beginnings of a movement called bacti, which is a spiritual worship movement. It advocates a sort of mystical union of the worshipper with a deity.
