The Impact of Pasteur's Chicken Cholera Vaccine
Louis Pasteur worked on resolving chicken cholera. The disease was a highly infectious disease with nearly a 100% mortality rate. He used it to inoculate some chickens and concluded that the bacteria had lost their ability to infect. This method of reducing virulence of microbes is known as attenuation.
