The last person in modern day that I can think of that you served voice in jazz as an instrument and then became so massive in pop culture was Amy Winehouse. It's super interesting to hear you talk about Nina Simone and Sam Cook and people that I might not have necessarily assumed would have been inspirational for you. You don't want to just hit people over the head with stuff you don't want, like Miles Davis said if you're gonna tell a story tell it with some attitude.
