What Did Abe Do for the US?
Abe's grandfather had pushed through, at the cost of his political career, the modern us. Tepan alliance. Abe felt a sort of family heredity, family obligation to strengthen it. He realized that japan didn't have the throw weight, the power to manage china or lead in asia without the us. And so he needed to not only be a thought leader for the region, but he needed to really strengthen and solidify the alliance.
