The Case of Baby G

Lucy was charged with attempted murder in the deaths of two babies. The prosecution alleged that Lucy intentionally fed Baby G an excessive amount of milk through her nasogastric tube and also could have injected her with an air bubble. This overfeeding prevented her lungs from expanding and she stopped breathing after vomiting twice. She required extensive chest compressions and shots of adrenaline before she was successfully resuscitated. In cross-examination, Lucy denied these allegations and on the day of the last two attempts on Baby G's life, Lucy looked up her parents' Facebook and other social media accounts. Her defense claimed there were staffing and training deficiencies at Countess Hospital resulting in the children receiving suboptimal care.
