We now live in dis functional maritocracy, where the battles are about spoils. We're left with the kind of structure if aritocracy, but not its benefits for the most part. When those norms disintegrate, then the field opens up for conflict. And when yeu have conflict among those of power, that's when things start to become unstable and dangerous. In republics a lot of the time when power goes into conflict mode? Well, what's happening is that this use of power to secure private interests instead of over all interest riht.
