What's in the Dialogue?
Socrates has a long conversation to try to breako the problem of justice. This is a socrates who is trying to create a positive conception of justice. The reason it ends up being so long comes back to essential platonizing idea. There's justice in the city, there is justice in the individual, probably justice in the mily or the neighborhood too. To really solve this problem, once we even get to the point where socrates is committed to trying to solve the problem, he's got to shift back and forth between these problems of justice writ large in society and justice in the individuals.
