The History of the Women's Army Corps

The women's army corps, or whack, was formerly part of the us Army. Being an auxiliary unit also meant that the women weren't eligible for overseas pay or government issued life insurance. When some of them were sent to north africa in late 19 forty two, it was without the corresponding increase in their pay and without that insurance. Later on, several nise women joined the whack as well. And you can learn more about the complicated history of nise service in the us.
