What Do We Value to Day?

By the end of the twentieth century, astronomers do most of their observations on screens. They are now comfortably seated in all kinds of serealized homogeneous, ergonomic office chairs. And this is a major part of the storytat the transformation of where one sits. What's curious then is that we no longer have images as dominant as the observing chair was in the nineteenth century. Rather, there's a preference now for s of what we call pretty pictures, nebulae, the recent black whole. That's the public face of astronomy now.
