The Most Exciting Possible Resolution From a Fundamental Physics Perspective

If these results are all correct, there really is kind of a serious problem. There's very little wiggle room in our standard dark matter, plus dark energy cosmology to do that. So we might need to see if there's something else that we're missing about this cosmology. If it were only these early galaxies, I would say less than 1% odds that it would require a new fundamental physics.
