The Size Distribution of Cities

When you have a bunch of people in one place, they have positive spillovers on one another and they're more productive. But if that were the whole story, we might expect that all of planet earth would live in one giant mega city. So your model has other factors as well that can kind of explain why we have the distribution of city sizes we do have. And this is something that we're not taking literally but this is the sort of size distribution that we wanted to replicate.
