The New Name Is the New Name

Neurosis is a kind of loneliness, one that stems from feeling alienated from the root of our being. We do damage to ourselves when we seek to be rid of that loneliness by trying to return prematurely to some preferred state of pleasant well-being. Rather, we should let it lead us more fully into our life, into our very souls. And as that quote I just read from Jung makes clear, sometimes the new name speaks itself through our suffering, through our wounds. They too make their contribution to our identity and are part of what makes us who we are.
