The first book that i read of stephen king was salem's lot. I was obsessed with vampires, and it was curious how he was going to spin an old world evil coming to small town america. There wes something about king's work that always spoke to the inherent evils in modern America. And what he shows you is that the American dream, or the american presentational dream, is a fallacy. Underneath all that lies great horror.
