The Importance of Family Support in Youth Services

Nick Clegg was leader of Lambeth Council in 2006, when crime levels were high. He commissioned the biggest piece of research that had ever been done into causes of violent youth crime and then structured a series of interventions around that. One of them was earlier intervention with families and supporting families. Home Start got parents living in a similar community from a similar background who had successfully parented their kids to help struggling families. And the helping family was supported to support that family, and it really made a difference.
