Is There a Difference Between Cold Email Submissions and Cold Mail Submissions?

How do you decide which pieces to take on? What percentage come from cold email submissions versus some other way of getting, getting the pieces. Never go through slush pile directly - that's less high priority than stuff where we've dealt with people personally.
