The Psychology of Group Identity

Sports fans often think the referees are unfair to them because they're seeing everything through their own lends. The passion that we feel for our favourite sports teams can quickly lead to feelings of us versus them. But it turns out, a shared passion isn't needed to trigger the psychological effects of group identity. One study published in the 19 seventies randomly assigned volunteers to one of two groups. Members of the first group were supposed to like the artist paul clay and members of the second group were meant to like wasily sky.
